Broker
Truth:A go-between, an intermediary, an agent. A broker works between a buyer and a seller for a fee or commission. Insurance brokers, real estate brokers, securities brokers, loan brokers, mortgage brokers, investment brokers, all require a license. Scam:During the persuasion phase of a fraudulent investment scheme, the victim is distracted from asking to see licenses. Financial con-artists (grifters) wrap their scheme with an aura of secrecy, mystery, and exclusivity in such a way that the victim feels that he is privileged to even be invited to join the investment pool. If the victim is willing to invest extremely large amounts of cash or securities and insists on seeing a license, a phony one may be produced but again the victim is distracted from following up with outside verification.
